Inmodernsociety,thereisahandicapofinterpersonalrelationshipbetweenparentsandchildren.Parentsdislikewhattheirchildrenthinkanddo,whilechildrenoftencomplainthattheirparentscannotunderstandthem.Thisisoftencalledgenerationgap.
Therearesomereasonsfortheexistenceofgenerationgap.First,theenvironmentinwhichyoungpeoplenowlivingisquitedifferentfromthatoftheirparents'.Therefore,theyoftenholddifferentopinionsonvariousproblenasinlife.Second,disparityinagealsoleadstomisunderstanding.Youngpeoplewanttodoeverythingastheylike,whileolderpeopleoftencan'thelpinterferingwhentheythinkwhattheyoungpeoplearedoingiswrong.Thisinevitablyleadstodisharmony.
Inmyopinion,generationgapcanbebridgedaslongasbothparentsandchildrenarewillingtomakeefforts.Theymayhaveanopentalkandtelleachotherwhattheythinkaboutcertainproblems.Theyshouldbeconsiderateenoughtorealizethateachgenerationhasitsownadvantagesanddisadvantages.Theiropennessandconsiderationprobablywillresultinamuchbetterrelationshipbetweenparentsandchildren.
